Multan - Sukkhur Motorway Approved

Home - On a proposal of Ministry of Communications, ECNEC approved the revised PC-I of Sukkhur-Multan Section (392 KMs)of Peshawar- Karachi Motorway Project at a total cost of Rs 314,997.280 million.

The section covers the areas of districts of Sukkhur, Ghotki, Rahimyar Khan, Bahawalpur and Multan in the provinces of Sind and Punjab.

The Committee was informed that the project was being implemented on EPC basis and therefore there would be no cost escalation during the implementation of the project.

The meeting was informed that despite upward revision of the project cost, a saving of Rs. 112 billion has still been achieved through deep scrutiny.

ECNEC also discussed and approved the revised PC-I for KKH Phase-II (Havelian to Thakot 118.057 KM) project at a total cost of Rs.136, 659.60 million.

Polling continued in a peaceful manner in Multan city and most of the polling stations were witnessed thronged by the voters here on Saturday. No untoward incident was reported except a few involving exchange of arguments among supporters of candidates, most of them triggered by complaints of slow pace of polling amid rush of voters waiting outside. At a female polling station of ward-2 in UC-35, 80 votes were polled out of total registered voters out of 900 till 1200 hours. Over 100 votes were polled out of 688 at another female polling station of ward No 4, UC-35 1200 hours. At a male polling station of ward No 4, UC-35, 136 votes were polled out of total 800 till 1200 hours. At a male polling station of ward-5 in UC-35, total 259 votes were cast out of 1159 votes till 1210 hours. Over 150 votes were polled out of 1008 at a male polling station of ward-6 in UC-35 till 1215 hours. Over 400 votes were polled at a female polling station of ward-5, UC-35 out of total 1100 votes...
